During a past conducting workshop I was grateful to have attended, participants and musicians were asked to provide constructive feedback to the conductor – participants so that we could all learn from each other. Here is a list of feedback I got and the lessons I learned from them.
- You are so easy to follow, and the clarity of your pattern and impulse will make the small changes you make obvious
2. Great musical ideas, helped facilitate the passing of musical lines
- Great facial expression! Awesome connection with the group
- Super prepared and super clear!
- You are a very skilled conductor. Thank you for complimenting my playing. I was not feeling like a very good musician and your compliment made me feel much better
- The piece you chose is very difficult, but your leadership made it easy to navigate and you were able to bring ample expression and musicality to the piece. It was a pleasure to play under your direction.
- Good command over the music!
- Great presence and energy!
- I appreciated your clear leadership
- Your knowledge and love of the music is so apparent and obvious. A lot of passion coming through.
- You can tell that you have very clear musical ideas in your head.
- Your musical knowledge is truly inspiring and you know how to convey that to the ensemble
- I love the passion that you brought to the podium. It showed and I wanted to keep playing for you because of it.
- I loved when you conducted Gloriosa. It was magical, the tone you set with your ensemble.
