Nope. No pictures!

Nope. No videos as well!

The band committee organized a ‘Welcome Tea’ session on May 13 for incoming first years. This annual activity is used to provide the new members with information about the band, the key appointment holders and what’s on the work plan for the academic year.

To ease the first years in, we had sectionals instead of the usual full band. I felt that the sectional will provide the leaders an opportunity to get to know the new members and for the new members to get to know the seniors as well as get “reacquainted” with their instruments. having not played since stepping down from their CCA almost a year ago. This also provided me with an opportunity to listen to each section and have a better understanding of what I need to work on.

The band sat down for our first full band on May 17 and it was a blast! The band was BIG and the space we had for rehearsal was not conducive but we managed to go through the rehearsal. We sight read some popular works and after the break, we went through the two pieces we will be playing for this year’s SIBF. My conclusion at the end of the rehearsal was that we had a really BIG band with tremendous potential and possibilities.

Since that day, we have had 2 more sectionals and 2 more full band sessions. As the saying goes, the better you get, the more audible the mistakes become! I am super excited to start again next week after the band had a 2 week break due to assessments.

I will take pictures and videos!
