The Singapore International Band Festival (SIBF) in July 2022 pushed the band to its limits and slightly beyond. With a few members getting covid just a week before the show, we had to make some changes to solo line up and had to rehearse with many precautions in place. But the experiences of that period spurred the band to push itself and that spirit of “anything is possible” inspired the band to achieving what, is in my opnion, the best SDR to date.
The challenge for SDR offerings has always been to perform better than the last one. This year, SDR XIV, shared not only great programming, it had a storyline which was connect-able. Everyone involved in the concert, from members to audience, was involved throughout the show and when the dust settled, beautiful memories filled our souls. No one will forget SDR XIV in a hurry. It was a fantastic show!
Band members and the audience who attended the show can’t stop sharing memories of the night on social media and I hope they won’t stop any time soon as well. The video recording of the full concert will be given to us by the Theatre management in a couple of weeks and I will be sharing that with you on my youtube channel. My youtube channel is an archive of my conducting experiences and band performances as well. So please follow my youtube channel so that you will receive an update on all future uploads. RP Wind Symphony’s next performance will be on Sunday, 18 December 2022 at Our Tampines Hub (OTH) Festival Stage 1:00pm and 3:00pm (Save The Date!). We will playing a selection of Christmas offerings and hope you will be there to join us celebrate the festivities.
