Exciting News!

Maestro Tsung Yeh, the Music Director of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra is joining us  for this year’s edition of the Woodlands Young Conductors Workshop (WYCW)! This year, we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the WYCW and Maestro Yeh’s guidance and sharing is tremendous for the workshop and for all participants, both Active and Observers.

Format

This year, the WYCW will be conducted in two parts on separate set of dates. For the first part (Wind Band) will be conducted over one day (weekend) and participants will be led through band repertoire which will be looking at conducting basics and podium engagement. The main drive will be to learn techniques of non-verbal communication. The second part of the workshop will be led my Maestro Tsung Yeh and will be conducted over four days; preview sessions and podium time. Participants will be guided through Classical/Romantic and 20th Century chamber orchestra repertoire which provide insights into conducting larger ensembles and the symphony orchestra. As part of Maestro Yeh’s segment, active participants will engage in previews and discussion of workshop repertoire as part of mental and physical preparation before engaging the chamber ensemble in musical learning and explorations.

Registration of Interest

To enable ample opportunities for podium time and hands on learning, there is a limited number of places for active participants. If you are keen to be an Active Participant, please register your interest here: https://forms.gle/j84kpE6M82cBTL3H7. You will be contacted as soon as possible.

From overseas?

Yes you can join us! I will discuss with you schedule and itinerary and I will assist with arranging for accommodation, as well. You are most welcome to join us and be part of our 10th Anniversary edition!

Play in the ensemble!

One way of gaining from the workshop is to play in the ensembles. You have a direct view of the participants and also listen to guidance provided. If you would like to play in the wind band (standard instrumentation) or chamber ensemble (Strings, Piano and wind instruments), please reach out to me on mbmayusri@hotmail.com. You are most welcome to join us. Rehearsals will be conducted in the evenings on weekdays (schedule to be finalised)

Let’s be part of the 10th Anniversary of the Woodlands Young Conductors Workshop and register now!
