Republic Polytechnic Wind Symphony (RPWS) was formed in 2003. RPWS began this Concert series in 2007 when RP moved to the new Campus in Woodlands. The first SDR concert was not part of the Reflections Community Arts Festival (RCAF)  RCAF began in 2008. To be part of the School’s efforts in the Arts, RPWS aligned its SDR series with the RCAF.

This year, marks the 10th Concert and having reached this milestone, RPWS would like to thank Mr Ganesh, Mr Zaini, ALL Alumni, Advisors and friends who have made it possible for the band to continue on this path and to be able to serve RP and the Community through our love for Music.

SDR X is For You. Tickets are complimentary and you can get them by emailing us here: rpws.tickets@gmail.com (Tickets are fast running out. Book now so that you will not be disappointed!)

What can you look out for?

  1. Concert Master (CM), Naif Syahiran conducting the epic and emotionally charged, Miss Saigon.
  2. Assistant Concert Master (ACM), Haziq conducting Mamma Mia! ABBA fans wouldn’t want to miss this one.
  3. The RPWS Big Band. Our inaugural show at Ignite! last July was a blast! We had to perform again.

RPWS has a 2-year Student Conductor programme that exposes a selected student to conducting lessons and conducting opportunities for concerts, performances and masterclasses. This year both the CM and ACM had the opportunity to participate in the Woodlands Young Conductors Workshop (WYCW) which was co-led by me and COL Prateep Suphanrojn from the Royal Thai Army Band Education Department, Conductor of the Royal Thai Army Orchestra and Resident Conductor of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra. Recently, during the funeral procession of the late King, COL Prateep was tasked to write the music for the procession.

What we ask of you?

Join us! Come with your singing voices and dancing feet and not be an audience but be part of the show! I look forward to seeing you on 11 November 2017 at The Republic Cultural Centre (TRCC) at 7:30pm!
