I did a video but I will update that in another post. For now I just wanted to share how wonderful a session we had with Dr Paula Holcomb. This was made possible as part of the Singapore International Band Festival 2016 and we are truly grateful to the organizing committee for providing us with workshops and masterclasses with renown conductors and teachers.

These were some of the reactions post workshop! We all agreed that we learnt a lot from the session. I got my CM to take notes too! I always believe we can learn many things but writing down notes will make us remember better… Yup. I did notes too! 6 pages worth. She was awesome and I was amazed at her presence on the podium. So much energy and so engaging. The one thing I loved most was her ability to dig in and get my students to play. You know us Asians are shy creatures. Haha… She was generous too. Invited the band to visit her in Fredonia… as in FREDONIA, NEW YORK, USA 😦 I wish this was a possibility.
RPWS got Silver in the recent SIBF but if you heard them back in May and hear them now, you will agree with me that the band has come a very long way and I am so proud of every one of them. It was a privilege to lead them on that stage and it was amazing to hear them play. We did it! We performed our best and the audience enjoyed themselves. That’s the best reward to a performer.. ever!
