Scenes from the Louvre by Norman Dello Joio is very close to my heart. This piece was the piece I had to conduct for my final examinations and final year competitions when I was at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall. In those days, the internet was not as accessible as it is today and I did not have access to resources or recordings other than the score I was given. But I found the process of preparing fun and enjoyable. I had really good teachers and what they taught me on how to study a score is really effective. I felt blessed.
