
Description
This year’s edition will focus on important wind band repertoire. It will give participants an insight into early works written for the wind band and their influences. Participants will be conducting all pieces in the repertoire list. As a new initiative and feature, ALL participants will conduct the Republic Polytechnic Wind Symphony during the Republic Polytechnic’s Reflections 2016 Concert on 1 Nov 2016. ALL participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Duration: Saturday, 17 Sep 2016 to Tuesday, 01 Nov 2016 (Concert)
Time: 10:00am – 5:00pm on 17 Sep 2016 and 7:00pm – 9:00pm for the remaining sessions (once per week).
Venue: Republic Polytechnic Cultural Centre (TRCC) in Woodlands, Singapore
Requirements
Age: Minimum 17 years old
Experience: Some conducting experience
Nationality: Open to ALL Nationalities
Participation Fee
Participants: FREE
Auditors: Free
Instrumentalist: You are welcome to play in the band. You are required to bring your own instruments except for percussionists. Please register no later than 31 Jul 2016.
Application

Profile of Conducting Tutor

Muhamad Yusri Bin Mohamed Ali BA(Mus), LLCM, LRSM, RMSM
Winner of the Principal Director of Music Prize for Conducting in 1999 when he was at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall. He also won the Bronze Baton at the 10th International Conductors Contest in Kerkrade, The Netherlands in 2005. Yusri served in the SAF Band from 1994 to 2012. His last appointment was as the Director of Music of the SAF Central Band from 2008 to 2012 and concurrently Chief Instructor of the SAF Band Training Wing from 2004 to 2012. Yusri joined Republic Polytechnic in 2006. He is currently in his tenth year as Conductor of the Wind Symphony.
